Exterior Plaster

The Denver Pallet House renovation project, which won the AIA Denver 2017 Award of Excellence, is a single-family residence in Denver, Colorado. Wood shipping pallets on the home’s exterior create a unique design that filters light and screens the interior spaces, effectively melding form and function and lending the house its name. We are proud to have our Venetian plaster also featured prominently on this home. The modern high gloss finish plays with the filtered light from the pallets and reflects and absorbs the natural surroundings.

Exterior Venetian Plaster

Lime plaster has been used in Europe for centuries and we enjoyed working very specifically in this beautiful material to satisfy our builder's wishes to achieve an aged romantic look on the exterior of the Ravenna Golf Club, courting an old hacienda style. In order to achieve this effect, we blended two different colors of plaster and applied them in a layered fresco technique that we developed. Certain archway walls were covered in a complementary high polish custom application that results in an exquisite marble-like feel (see second row, far left photo). Additionally, we hand sculpted certain portions of the wall where they meet the edge of the roof tiles to provide a traditional "scalloped" effect and elegant visual transition (top row, center photo). This was our first, and very successful, large scale exterior plaster application in the Denver area.
